Topic: Module 3- Sports Unit 1-Nothing is more enjoyable than playing tennis.

TeachingObjectives:
1. Listening:
To practice the ability of abstracting information form listening
To strengthen students’ ability of finding out the key words through listening
2. Speaking:
To use comparative sentence to describe sports
To established confidence in speaking English by talking about their favorite sports
Emotional Objective: To encourage the students to share their ideas about doing sports and tell them how good doing sports is for their health.

Step1Warming–up
Teacher starts a conversation with “do you like sports/ what is your favorite sport and why?” and leads in the theme of “sports”. Ss are supposed to share their own ideas with the teacher by using some adj.s .

Step2Speakingpart1
With the help of the topic above, teacher can lead in the new vocabulary such as baseball, basketball, tennis and boring, exciting, and expensive…)
Teacher leads the Ss to another topic—which sport do you think is more boring/exciting/expensive...?
Ss work in pairs to draw a mind map to show how many sports they know in English, what they think of these sports, and how to compare different sports.
Teacher calls back the mind maps and share together with the whole class.

Step3Listening
Listen to the tape and number the sports as you hear them.
Listen to activity 3 without looking at the book for some general information and answer the following 2 questions:
How many people are talking?
What are they doing and talking about?

Step4Reading
Read the passage carefully and check the true sentences
Answer the questions:
What is the score of the football match on TV?
How does Daming think of these two weeks' football match? Which one is more exciting?
Tony looks tired. What is the matter with him?
What does Tony think of playing tennis?Why does Tony watch Olympics on TV?
Teacher calls back all the answers

Ss talk about sports individually. Here is an example for them from activity 5:
